Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees decides on the use of the income from assets and donations in accordance with the purpose of the foundation. The Board of Trustees consists of the following members:

 

Prof. Dr. Andreas
Walter Bett

Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systemes ISE in Freiburg, Germany and holder of the professorship "Solar Energy - Materials and Technologies" at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Freiburg. 

He received his diploma in physics and the state examination in physics and mathematics at the Albert-Ludwigs-University, Freiburg in 1988 and 1989. He wrote his diploma thesis on "Optimization of epitaxial GaAs/GaAIAs layer structures for solar cells" at Fraunhofer ISE under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Adolf Goetzberger. Andreas W. Bett received his doctorate from the University of Constance in 1992 and has been working at Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg since 1987.

Markus Elsässer
Vice-Chairman

Founder and CEO of Solar Promotion Group, an international conference and exhibition organizer with a focus on renewable energy. In 1991, while studying mechanical engineering, he founded Intersolar, the world's leading trade fair series for the solar industry with events on four continents. Parallel to Intersolar, he developed other leading industry events with the Solar Promotion Group, which promote the topics of renewable energies, decentralization and digitalization of the energy industry as well as electromobility. 

 

Ursula Goetzberger

Ursula Goetzberger met Adolf Goetzberger in 1961 in San Francisco, California, when she lived there for a year to study history and English (teaching). 
1962 the wedding, first together in Palo Alto, then in Murray Hill, N.J., where the two children were born. 
1968 move to Freiburg.
Activities: Family management; 3-year training as psychoterapist/logotherapy and existential analysis. Various voluntary activities, e.g. for 5 years weekly in prison.
Married Adolf Goetzberger for 60 years.

 

Hoffmann

Dr. Winfried Hoffmann
Head of Jury

Active in photovoltaics since 1970.
As Managing Director of RWE Solar (later SCHOTT Solar), he developed the company into one ot the world's 5 largest producers of Si wafers, cells and modules in the 2000s.
He was President of the European PV Industry Association (EPIA, now Solar Power Europe) and BSW Solar for many years. 
He was on the supervisory board of SMA Solar Technologies AG and Solarfabrik AG, as well as a member of the board of trustees and scientific advisory boards (Fraunhofer ISE, HZB, ZSW, DLR, ISFH).
Today he is a lecturer at the University of Freiburg, a member of the scientific advisory board of ISFH and a consultant.

Thomas Nordmann
Chairman 

CEO and founder TNC Consulting AG, Feldmeilen (Switzerland) 1985.
TNC is a pioneer in PV infrastructure systems.
Concept, planning and construction of the world's first 100 kW PV noise barrier along the A13 Domat Ems, 1989 as well as building-integrated bifacial PV systems on noise barriers along roads and railroads befor 2000. 
Thomas Nordmann is a member of the board of AEE Suisse. He is head of the core team and spokesman for industry in the Forum Energiespeicher Schweiz FESS, as well as in individual member of SATW.
